Go to Bulgaria for 2 Monts, visit at least 30 appartments/houses and buy as soon as you can, rents are just too high compared with the price. Be careful, everybody will expect you to pay more than a bulgarian, so have a look at www.imot.bg (yes in bulgarian, but with a translator you can farely easy undestand it).

Cathy,
We bought a lot of things at Praktiker. But for funriture there are a lot of small producers, craftsman who will make things exactly as you wish for a good price. I filled my house with furniture designed for me at an reasonable price. Praktiker is a German chain, but not only the best quality.

What do you think will happen in south east Europe in next month'?
After CCB went bust for good reasons.
After FIB was saved in the last minute.
After what you can read on www.bivol.bg about FIB.
And now an € country has to leave, what is in store for BG?

Steve, could you be a little more explicit, about what you are looking for, I have a house in a village +-10km from Troyan in the mountains, beautiful views, calm, near mineral springs, what do you expect?

Hi,
I am not in the case an cannot comment directly on your question.
However I can tell you that Bg has excellent doctors, even if some have to be paid extra. All treatments are available, but be careful of falsified prescription drugs, they are unfortunately rather common (some statistics say up to 30%...)

Hi Ray,
Sofia is not the cleanest city.... ok you are comming from worse...
Reliable transport, more or less, lots of congestion for sure...
House prices are too high even if they went down alot.
If you have to choose between Sofia and Plovdiv take Sofia however, but choose your part of town wisely...

Eric

Hi Doug,
Better find a lawyer in BG to finalize it for you, too much risk without.

Hi Tina and Martin,
Thanks for the invitation, but my holidays are over, was 1 month in Troyan area in my new house. Lots of thermal baths, was superb.
I was only once in Ruse, but I am really in love with Tarnovo.
By the way, as I am not English, I prefer Rakia
Regards
Eric
